Vulcanised Sneaker

Vulcanised sneaker, known generally as the plimsoll, and popularised in the all-time classic Converse All Stars and Vans Old Skool ranges, vulcanisation was the earliest way rubber sole sneakers was manufactured, as far back as the mid-19th Century. But over the years - as techniques changed and become more streamlined - most of the specialist vulcanised sneaker factories disappeared.

We’re proud that Prototype 01 is created using

the vulcanised construction. The individual elements have been hand-crafted and cooked in an industrial oven, so each sneaker has a handmade look and feel which we think gives it a perfectly imperfect character.
